About the Battle Run

The Battle Run and Fitness Festival is a community wide event that will provide support and awareness for Chaplain’s Well. Launched earlier this year, Chaplain’s Well supports the men and women of the Mississippi National Guard with financial and holistic aid during times of need. 

Also, the event is designed to increase awareness and participation of fitness within the Hattiesburg community. Battling obesity and inactivity while supporting Chaplain’s Well will build strong communities, healthier families, and show the men and women of the Mississippi National Guard our sincerest support. Your support is needed and greatly appreciated!

The Battle Run is a team-oriented 5K obstacle course race designed to test athletes of every level. The run is composed of four person teams that, together, take on some of the most grueling physical and mental challenges ever faced.

People of all fitness levels will enjoy participating in the Battle Run and the feeling of accomplishment that comes at the finish line.

Please arrive at registration at least ONE HOUR before your scheduled heat.

We highly recommend that you allot yourself plenty of time before your heat to be able to gather your team and get yourselves ready to run The Battle Run. Feel free register as early as you'd like and come hang out with us until your heat! It’s going to be a party all day long with all sort of activities for all ages! So come cheer on other teams, scout out the course, grab yourself a burger, and let your kids play in our inflatables.

We realize that the weather is looking a little bleak on Saturday… however, a little rain is just going to make everything all that much more intense! Get ready to eat mud! The Battle Run will continue, rain or shine!!
Parking will be located in the vacant lot across from the Abbey Salon. Everything will be clearly marked, so look for The Battle Run signs as you enter. Once you park, a shuttle will transport you and your team over to the Anatomies facilities.

Be prepared to get extremely dirty and wear clothes that you do not care about throwing away afterwards. We suggest you bring a change of clothes, a few towels, and other items you think you may need after the race. We will have a place for you to be able to hose yourself off once you have gone through the course.
Childcare will be provided by Anatomies throughout the morning and for all scheduled events. We will also have all types of events and activities throughout the Festival for the entire family! We want this to be as much for your kids as it will be for you! So we will have everything from bounce houses, to a special very "Kid’s Battle Run" over a 70 ft inflatable course!

Also, be sure to not miss Safari Ari, who will be showing exotic animals at 9:00am and noon.

Yes! Topher’s Grill will be on site at the Battle Run selling chicken sandwiches and hamburgers for lunch during the Festival.

Enjoy a Class For Any Fitness Level

The Fitness Festival is an open house event that showcases fitness classes for participants of every fitness level. With three different sessions to choose from, you can try out a new class or enjoy some of your favorite workouts. Classes are 'scaled' to be fun and challenging for everyone involved.

Location


The Fitness Festival will be hosted by Anatomies, Hattiesburg's first choice in family fitness and wellness options. More than a gym, Anatomies offers a variety of programming, ranging from weight-loss to group fitness programs, Bootcamp, CrossFit, and youth fitness classes. From advanced classes to simple solutions for people taking the first steps toward a healthier lifestyle, each program is presented by a professional who is passionate to make your fitness goals a reality and give your family a better quality of life.

Southbound CrossFit begins with a belief in fitness. The aim of Southbound CrossFit is to forge a broad, general and inclusive fitness. We have sought to build a program that will best prepare trainees for any physical contingency — not only for the unknown, but for the unknowable. After looking at all sport and physical tasks collectively, we asked what physical skills and adaptations would most universally lend themselves to performance advantage. Capacity culled from the intersection of all sports demands would quite logically lend itself well to all sport. In sum, our specialty is not specializing.
